the life of a renaissance pastor

I know, I know, this will make me super popular with all you musical purists, frankly I don’t care. There’s some music that’s just good cuz it’s good - Bryan Adams is that kind of music, plus he’s Canadian, which is always a plus.
This post it dedicated to my wife, who is just a little too young to really appreciate Bryan Adams, but there’s a little bit of us in each of these songs. Jen I love ya, and we’re not gonna stop this thing we’ve started!
The hits speak for themselves, they just keep coming…
You can’t tell me that when this song comes on you don’t think about your special someone, my wife in this case:
Here’s a live version from Slain Castle (Yes, Karl, the same place U2 did their live DVD) it’s really a great version:
And you can’t tell me that this ranks #2 next to Tom Petty’s “Free Fallin‘” as the ’sing at the top of your lungs’ radio song:
You gotta give it up for this one that goes along with the tight pants & mulleted Kevin Costner:
Turn this one up loud. Straight ahead rock.
Rockin’ with Tina Turner (this song was on some kind of collaberation album I had on cassette tape as a teen)
80’s rock video at its very best
Straight from the Heart - another love song (this one’s good medicine after a good fight)
Brian, Sting, & Rod
And the hits just keep coming! Cuts like a Knife circa 1983:
Another good sing along for you and your mate!
Did I mention that some have said I resemble Brian Adams? Not sure if they’re talking about looks or vocals… Here’s something else I like about him:
In his acceptance speech for his induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the 2006 Juno Awards, he named his long-time guitarist Keith Scott as his best friend. The two have been playing together for over 25 years.
Are you a Bryan Adams fan?
My name is Alex McLean and I am currently the executive pastor at LifeChurch in the Temecula Valley of Southern California. I have been a youth pastor and worship leader, as well as a media / communications pastor so I am into all kinds of things creative.
At the core, I am just a guy who is trying to live in community, and live life - not let it happen. I try and stay real and teachable, humble if I can say that. That is really one of the reasons I blog, is to share my experiences in life and learn from others.
God has blessed me with more than I deserve and I am so thankful for that. A beautiful wife and two incredible children. More friends and family than you can shake a stick at and just an amazing life that I am allowed to enjoy and or struggle with every day.
