the life of a renaissance pastor
This is a new blog series that I’m going to work through. Let me just begin by sharing that over the past year my life as I’ve connected with more an more people outside my little ‘Temecula Circle’ - I’ve become more aware, or more attracted to generosity. I love reading stories about people who [...]
This election was pretty interesting, especially in the use of social media/web 2.0. I think one of the coolest things about what has happened over the past few years is the web has brought us closer to the action - inviting us to participate more. Some would argue that social media has caused us to [...]
Oh yes, coming soon to your church: ChurchMetrics.com. I know we need another CMS system like we need a hole in the head, but come on… this is LifeChurch.tv! The same guys who brought you YouVersion.com and One Prayer. Why does this excite me? Well…
1. I am not at all happy with our current CMS [...]
Yes that’s right I now have the coolest signature EVER, thanks to wisestamp.com (FireFox plugin). As you can see it links to all the cool social media sites out there. My good friend Vince hooked me up with this, as he usually does with the coolest and latest things… Go get you some now.
Pretty cool [...]
QuietTime.tv looks like a cool new use for web 2.0 & video. I know that I don’t get enough “quiet time” and when I’m in community with others, there’s cool things that come up that I would have never thought of. So I am excited about this. Go check it out today and here’s a [...]
Here’s a fun way to stay current with the Olympics. Google has a map which shows medals won by countries. Pretty cool I’d say.
Here’s the link to the original page, cuz it’s kind of jacked up in my blog.
I’ve been using Pandora a lot lately (it’s an online music engine that uses your first choice to stream music of that genre to your computer). In the home, in the office, in our church reception area. I highly recommend it. This morning Jen and I were eating breakfast and I punched in “Bryan Adams” [...]
I’ve been using iGoogle as my home page for at least a year, probably longer. I love it, even though it’s a little cluttery, it helps me stay on top of things. Google is pretty much the next best thing next to Jesus. My Google home page has these plugins:
Gmail - the best email application [...]
I’m sitting in the tech booth at church, it’s 12:21, worship started at 11:00am, and John is still going strong on his message (he just said he knows he’s out of time). But I’m running out of time, as soon as we’re done here I have to go shopping for some stuff for my [...]
Two Words: Creative Chaos.
Ok, I wanted to just say that and be done with it, but this movement begs to be explained (quickly). Imagine the creative minds & hearts from churches all over the world sharing their ideas, resources, and dreams, freely and openly. Creative Chaos.
For me this has a very special impact in my [...]
My name is Alex McLean and I am currently the executive pastor at LifeChurch in the Temecula Valley of Southern California. I have been a youth pastor and worship leader, as well as a media / communications pastor so I am into all kinds of things creative.
At the core, I am just a guy who is trying to live in community, and live life - not let it happen. I try and stay real and teachable, humble if I can say that. That is really one of the reasons I blog, is to share my experiences in life and learn from others.
God has blessed me with more than I deserve and I am so thankful for that. A beautiful wife and two incredible children. More friends and family than you can shake a stick at and just an amazing life that I am allowed to enjoy and or struggle with every day.
