I’m slowly making my way through ‘Missing the Point’ by McClaren & Campolo (you know those renegade right wing liberal socialists? I kid, I kid!). Anywho, there’s some really though provoking stuff in this book. And I’m trying my best to digest and think through some issues. I think there’s a time to land on [...]

Just in case you missed it, catch up on Parts 1, 2, 3, & 4 first.
This is a little late because I was out of town, got back, played catch up on a lot of stuff and now am back in the swing of things. Anyway, saw this video over on Victor’s blog & thought [...]

That’s it, that’s all I got. [...]

The blogosphere is bursting at the seams with this news. With encouragements, admonishments, anger, sadness, finger pointing, and forgiveness. I’ve read almost all of your posts and comments - great stuff, great perspective. If this is something new to you, go get a “big picture” point of view on this issue. Here’s my best attempt [...]

The Christian/Worship blogosphere is buzzing this morning with the recent news surrounding the song “Healer”. Here’s the short of it:
A FORMER Adelaide pastor who inspired hundreds of thousands of young Christians with his with his terminal cancer “battle” has been exposed as a fraud.
Michael Guglielmucci, whose parents established Edge Church International, an Assemblies of God [...]

Sunday Setlist: 8.17.2008

In: church, music, worship

Here’s the weekly Sunday Setlist! I didn’t spend much time in the “Big House” this weekend (our slang for adult worship experience). But here’s the set list - I caught one services worth of worship over the course of four visits.

Forever - Tomlin
Blessed Be Your Name - Redman
Doxology - I think it was a Crowderesque [...]

My wife’s father lives in Decatur, Alabama.
We went out and visited him a few years ago.
While we were there I told Jen we should visit a church.
She said that we didn’t bring our “church clothes”.
I said, “come again?”
Needless to say, we didn’t go to church. There was literally nothing going on (that we could find) [...]

Rich or Broke?

In: blogging, church

Just found a couple more links for y’all. One is Bobby’s update in their teaching series, “How to be Rich” (which I think is an Andy Stanley series, but I’m not sure). And the second link is to a blogger by the name of Brent (who I found via Billy). His church is doing a [...]

Sunday Setlist

In: church, music, worship

So my buddy Fred started a little trend called “Sunday Setlist“. I’m not sure if this is taking the place of worship confessionals or what, but I thought I’d play along. Now, I’m not the worship pastor at LifeChurch, in fact we don’t have one. I’m the executive pastor, who just has a heart for [...]

Wanted: Worship Intern!

In: church, worship

LifeChurch is looking for a passionate & motivated leader to come in and take the reigns with our Youth Worship Band. We’ve been developing the worship program for our Youth over the past few months and now we are ready for the right person to come on board and knock it out of the park! [...]

About this blog

My name is Alex McLean and I am currently the executive pastor at LifeChurch in the Temecula Valley of Southern California. IÕve been a youth pastor and worship leader, as well as a media/communications pastor so I am into all kinds of things creative. At the core, I am just a guy who is trying to live right, and live life - not let it happen. I try and stay open & teachable, humble if I can say that. ThatÕs really one of the reasons I blog, is to share my experiences in life and learn from others. God has blessed me with more than I deserve and IÕm so thankful for that. A beautiful wife and two incredible children. More friends and family than you can shake a stick at and just an amazing life that I am allowed to enjoy and or struggle with every day.
