The blogosphere is bursting at the seams with this news. With encouragements, admonishments, anger, sadness, finger pointing, and forgiveness. I’ve read almost all of your posts and comments - great stuff, great perspective. If this is something new to you, go get a “big picture” point of view on this issue. Here’s my best attempt [...]

Sunday Setlist: 8.17.2008

In: church, music, worship

Here’s the weekly Sunday Setlist! I didn’t spend much time in the “Big House” this weekend (our slang for adult worship experience). But here’s the set list - I caught one services worth of worship over the course of four visits.

Forever - Tomlin
Blessed Be Your Name - Redman
Doxology - I think it was a Crowderesque [...]

Sunday Setlist

In: church, music, worship

So my buddy Fred started a little trend called “Sunday Setlist“. I’m not sure if this is taking the place of worship confessionals or what, but I thought I’d play along. Now, I’m not the worship pastor at LifeChurch, in fact we don’t have one. I’m the executive pastor, who just has a heart for [...]

ONE VOICE is Almost Here

In: events, music, worship

Maybe you are a new reader, or maybe you just haven’t caught wind of ONE VOICE. But I’m very excited about what is happening with some local churches throughout the Temecula Valley. We’re gathering 7 churches together for a night of worship, celebration & prayer. I’ve been working very hard on organizing along with Karl, [...]

I Heart Pandora

In: best of web, music

I’ve been using Pandora a lot lately (it’s an online music engine that uses your first choice to stream music of that genre to your computer). In the home, in the office, in our church reception area. I highly recommend it. This morning Jen and I were eating breakfast and I punched in “Bryan Adams” [...]

I can’t tell you how often I hear worship leaders complain that the people don’t sing, don’t clap, aren’t engaged, or just don’t show up for worship. I feel their pain, trust me, I’ve been leading worship for 15 years. But how come Tom Petty can get a crowd of X-thousand people all singing, without [...]

80’s Rock Indulgance: Bryan Adams

In: music, video

I know, I know, this will make me super popular with all you musical purists, frankly I don’t care. There’s some music that’s just good cuz it’s good - Bryan Adams is that kind of music, plus he’s Canadian, which is always a plus.
This post it dedicated to my wife, who is just a little [...]

Meet Rocco DeLuca

In: friends, music

Yeah so I’m name dropping, so what? I was cruisin around the web tonight and ran into Rocco again via Myspace (ew). I check my myspace like once every two months. I just thought I’d share a little trivia here on the blog tonight. I went to Lake Elsinore High School for the last two [...]

Scottish Week: Friday

In: history, music, video

When I was a young teen, my parents dragged me all over California for the Scottish Highland Games. My sisters danced & I played a marching snare. I’m not gonna lie - I loathed it. It was hot, very hot, and I was not into wearing a kilt. It wasn’t much of a chick magnet. [...]

Scottish Week: Thursday

In: history, music, video

2 words: Bagpipes & Drums. Where would we be without ‘em. For me, when I hear them, especially live, I get chills. I’ve heard stories, not sure if they’re true or not, that in the “olden times” they used to send the pipe bands out in front of the other troops and as they began [...]

About this blog

My name is Alex McLean and I am currently the executive pastor at LifeChurch in the Temecula Valley of Southern California. IÕve been a youth pastor and worship leader, as well as a media/communications pastor so I am into all kinds of things creative. At the core, I am just a guy who is trying to live right, and live life - not let it happen. I try and stay open & teachable, humble if I can say that. ThatÕs really one of the reasons I blog, is to share my experiences in life and learn from others. God has blessed me with more than I deserve and IÕm so thankful for that. A beautiful wife and two incredible children. More friends and family than you can shake a stick at and just an amazing life that I am allowed to enjoy and or struggle with every day.
