Wow.
We watch all our TV via the internet. And it sure would be nice to have it on the big screen (if you consider a 32″ 4:3 Toshiba a big screen). So I’m workin on an inexpensive solution, which includes some video adapting & wireless keyboard & mouse. When I happened upon this beauty. Apple [...]

Google is Evil

In: tech

I’m not gonna lie, I love Google. No, I LOVE Google. Google.com, Gmail, Google SMS, Google Analytics, iGoogle (well the new iGoogle Gmail sucks), Google Docs, Google Earth, Google Calendar, shall I continue?

Marriage Retreat

In: church, events, family, photos, tech

This weekend we held our first Marriage Retreat in the history of LifeChurch. We did a dual retreat; Overnight in Palm Desert for those who wanted to, and at LifeChurch for those who couldn’t get out of town. It was an awesome time for us personally and I think everyone had a blast and grew [...]

My Twitpics

In: blogging, photos, tech, twitter

Many of you (337 to be exact) follow me on Twitter. Many of you don’t. For those who don’t, let me just say you are missing out! Twitter has been called a ‘micro-blog’ - it’s 140 character updates. What you’re doing, funny sightings, information sharing, etc. It’s alive, and just another great way to be [...]

I love free stuff. Found some via my Google Reader today & thought I’d share.

Free background video loops here. Courtesy of Ministry Best Practices, thank you very much.

That’s it, that’s all I got. [...]

My wife’s father lives in Decatur, Alabama.
We went out and visited him a few years ago.
While we were there I told Jen we should visit a church.
She said that we didn’t bring our “church clothes”.
I said, “come again?”
Needless to say, we didn’t go to church. There was literally nothing going on (that we could find) [...]

It’s Alive, It’s ALIIIIIIIVE!

In: blogging, friends, help, tech

Yup the ol blog is back online. In case you missed it, it was down from about midnight last night until about 8am this morning.
The problem? I upgraded to the latest Wordpress release. And I followed directions too!
The culprit? A bad plugin.
The solution? deleted!
Thank You’s, Shout Out’s, Wup-Wup’s go out to: James, Will, & Pete [...]

I’ve been using iGoogle as my home page for at least a year, probably longer. I love it, even though it’s a little cluttery, it helps me stay on top of things. Google is pretty much the next best thing next to Jesus. My Google home page has these plugins:

Gmail - the best email application [...]

Wii Whiteboard!?

In: creativity, games, innovation, tech

Here’s an interesting rabbit trail. From my google reader I watched the Cardboard Testimonies video thanks to Bobby. Bobby had a link over to Pat’s blog, where he originally watched the video. Pat had a cool post on different uses for the Wii. He had a link over to Johnny Chung Lee’s blog, where I [...]

Two Words: Creative Chaos.
Ok, I wanted to just say that and be done with it, but this movement begs to be explained (quickly). Imagine the creative minds & hearts from churches all over the world sharing their ideas, resources, and dreams, freely and openly. Creative Chaos.
For me this has a very special impact in my [...]

About this blog

My name is Alex McLean and I am currently the executive pastor at LifeChurch in the Temecula Valley of Southern California. I have been a youth pastor and worship leader, as well as a media / communications pastor so I am into all kinds of things creative.

At the core, I am just a guy who is trying to live in community, and live life - not let it happen. I try and stay real and teachable, humble if I can say that. That is really one of the reasons I blog, is to share my experiences in life and learn from others.

God has blessed me with more than I deserve and I am so thankful for that. A beautiful wife and two incredible children. More friends and family than you can shake a stick at and just an amazing life that I am allowed to enjoy and or struggle with every day.
