CommentLuv or Disqus?

Blogmaster Los posted this last week and got me all excited about a new way to connect & follow each other around the blog world via Disqus. Great idea – so I installed it and quickly noticed a couple things:

  1. It killed my CommentLuv plugin, which is possibly my favorite plugin (for those who don’t know, it finds your latest blog post and puts a link to it under your comment – I click those a lot).
  2. It took over the Wordpress control of my comments. This means that I don’t see the comments in my admin section any longer, and the ‘Recent Comments’ widget is not longer working.

To both of those I say “poo”. I’m not sure how much longer I will leave Disqus up on my blog. But I thought I’d see what you thought.

  1. Disqus? which hijacked my blog, but is an amazing tool to connect us more.
  2. Or CommentLuv? which doesn’t have nearly the depth of Disqus, but leaves my blog alone.

Thoughts? (does my graphic make the choice too obvious?)

I tried it our for an afternoon and realized I didn't have much control immediately over how my comments section looked. I didn't like that.

I love the ability to comment to each other, but that can also happen with a simple @ sign at the beginning of their name.

I can see for Los and others how it would be beneficial with 100's of comments on a post, but for my little blog, I will do fine without it :)

    I love CommentLuv as well

Disqus is starting to grow on me. I think it makes me want to comment more on other people's blogs?!

Update: I DO see my comments in the Admin screen now, it's just a Disqus application that is managing them (not bad really).

I took Los' advice and synced comments with wordpress and the 'recent comments' widget is working once again…

I’m stuck in the same conundrum! So far I’m staying with Disqus but I think i’d actually prefer CommenLuv. I’m afraid to disable Disqus though for fear of losing all my previous comments….

really cool but I’m having a problem with it on my site. Do you know if there is any

support for this plugin. my recent post Commentluv Enabled,Enable Commentluv

My blog has already converted into do follow blog. I did not regret, since it is more beneficial in both sides.

COmmentLuv, for sure. Disqus is too much of a presence – CommentLuv is much more subtle and does a better job of cross-commenting.
