I wanted to add I just googled Christian Followers Crusade and this site popped. This scam is now hitting Portland OR. I recieved the exact email you posted. I too was concerned about the weird wording of the email and the lack of personalization. Thank you for your posting!

Hi, Looks like the same mail form except he or she is using a Hawaii address. I notice a bunch of rental scams in craigslist. I flag them when I do some research to find the address in realtor listing property for sale or rent with a proper amount on other website. I also inform the realtor or owner and forward the e-mail I recieved. I would also like to inform the e-mail server (yahoo or aol etc) that this e-mail is being used for scam. If I could. ly

I am in Houston and come across a house that was too good to be true however was interested. I received an email from “Curt Kim” kimcurt57@yahoo.com stating the exact wording. He gave the phone number of 234-702-947-6192 or 11-234-702-947-6192. Due to my legal background I started searching the property address for the current owner name via the Auditor’s website (everyone should learn to do this) and found that the last name matches but the first name does not. So I continued on my search and found this link. It really came as no shock since when NIGERIA comes into an email we have to know something is wrong. Thanks for the posting and hopefully others won’t be scammed by these people.

I am in Los Angeles and was looking through craigslist for some rental listing and this too good to be true 4 bedroom house was listed for rent. I received the same e-mail response as the ones posted above. I googled (thank God for Google) the address – the property is listed for SALE, the name of the owner – they use the name of the agent in LA that is representing the real estate agency (shameless), and the phone number 011-234-806-113-3966 which is how I ended up here and found your site. Thank you so much for posting this. It is unbelievable that people would do this to someone else as a way of making ends meet. Very sad.

The same scam popped up on craigslist.com for the rental houses in the Killeen, TX area. We are currently deployed and came across a house that seemed too good to be true. When the number was called some strange man answered the phone, so we decided to check it out.

The same scam:
Susana Steele
Christian missionary family that was “doing work in” Nigeria, and was looking to rent the house for up to 4 years.
The house popped up for sale on another realtors website in that area…fishy…

The guy kept calling me phone, and whenever I tried to call back, it was a number that could not be reached. After reading all the scams on this e-mail, I finally talked to “Michael” when he called me the next time. I asked him what his last name was and all he could say was “ummmm you won’t be able to understand it if I tell you” and he just kept asking me if I had sent the money yet.

I ended up telling him that everybody is catching up to his scam and that his phone number is listed all over the internet as a scammer. He just ended up hanging up on me when I confronted him.

Here is my story:
I saw the ad in craigslist when we were seriously apartment hunting. The rent was cheap for a 2/2.5…We were a little surprised. SO I emailed him /her about the property but my gut feeling wasn’t good from the beginning. I got the following reply:

“Hello,

I just got scamed on craigslist too! @ first i thought it was legit, i emailed him back questioning more about the house and he sent me another email back saying “you dont sound like you want to rent out my house, if you are joking let me know if you arent fill out the information attached to the first email” i sent him an email back saying that he was a scam ( i researched info on the web and found out it was a scam and after talking to a realtor) and he needs to be careful b/c the realtor i contacted said it was already being investigated!!

This incident happens to suck b/c it was such a good deal (good deals come and go and i had a slight thought of it was to good to be true) I was so pissed and i will be determined to get him tracked if he continues to email me!

Thank you so much for this site. I googled ‘international christian follower’s crusade’ to find this site. They are getting smarter and now they’re international. I saw a similar listing in SINGAPORE’s craigslist website for a 2 bdrm apartment in Orchard Road area (prime area in Singapore) for only $1000 a month. The pictures of the apartment looked amazing! That was just too good to be true. There was nothing about Africa this time otherwise I would have suspected the minute I got the email. There wasn’t a phone number either coz I think they figured that the numbers could be traced to this website. I’m ashamed to say that I did fall for it in the beginning and provided my information but as soon as I got the second email asking for a deposit, I realized it was a scam. I hope no harm can be done with the information I provided. Anyways, here’s the first email I got right after I enquire about the listing:

I got scammed with the same con off of craigslist. My husband and I want to relocate to Hawaii and the price and the house seemed so perfect that we were making plans to get the plane tickets and everything. Then I saw the warning posted by craigslist. I finally looked up international christian crusade and this site popped up. Then boy did I feel stupid and pissed off. I just want to know how to stop this guy so it never happens to anyone again. He went by the name of Poueu Lucy for me.

Just started searching craigslist to rent a house in Portland Oregon and came across this scam. After my initial email to see if the house was still available, I thought the response looked quirky so I started checking property info etc. I couldn’t really find anything so put in the “christian followers crusade” and immediately the scam information popped up.

So me and my girl jus came across one of these guys.. told them our situation and they acted like they would love to help us out. brother gave me the great idea of checking google for scams, sure enough FBI has posted a file on this scam, and I couldnt believe the FBI stated word for word what they were emailing us they even call an talk to you! Luckily we were smart enough to tell the guy were not sending payment without proof that a package was beign held for us at fedex..I personally was going to write the guy a nice email telling him how pissed i was knowing he tried to scam us for the hard earnd money we barely could afford to spend. but my woman said to report em, so after finding out theirs nothing really you can do, I decided to email him from my address acting like I was interested in the property but at the end I said I dont always have access to a comp. so call me at a number i listed..LOL I gave him the number to the local FBI office!! maybe that gave him a lil scare huh!

Got the same thing in Nashville, except they somehow got my name from the house that I was renting. Funny thing is it happened to be my father who was renting the house to me, and we quickly figured out it was a scam. They created an email account in my name, which I have petitioned Yahoo to have removed as they are fraudulently using my name of which I am not sure how they obtained. I am currently trying to get him to send me his western union information, so that it can be brought to their attention as it is completely fraud. We have also been calling them every hour and asking about it,and they keep claiming that they are me. I might not be possible without incurring international costs unless using skype or magic jack. If you come across it try and get the western union info and submit to them, and perhaps we can catch them waiting for the money.
