I Finished ‘The Shack’
I finished ‘The Shack‘, it only took me a couple weeks – not bad considering. It was a recommendation from a buddy of mine, Bryan Johnston of Tides Church – thanks Bryan! If you could get alone for about 6 hours you could probably knock it out, which I highly recommend. I’m still kind of relishing in the freshness of it all right now, but I’ll share some of my impressions over the next couple weeks. Until then, here’s a little video with the author, William Young.
Did you read it? Are you planning to?

My mom read it and got my sister to read it as well. They both said it was amazing, so I should probably read it too. Got a bit scared off by the subject matter at first, but it sounds like a good read!

I dug it…a lot. It got some guff from a lot of Christians because of it’s ‘universalism’ themes…but those people are retarded cause they missed the point of it.

I’m not a big reader but a friend of mine in Washington convinced me to read it and I finally did. She posted her opion on a group blog and included the video you have as well as a snippit of what Mark Driscoll had to sa. It’s brought up quite a hipe in her church up there.. I ended up leaning toward her opion. You’ll have to read …

I’ve read it twice. I liked it. It’s very good for what it is – a fiction book to explore the character of God. Not Gospel. All the uproar about it is a little ridiculous.

I read it in three days and was disappointed because it was so poorly written. The book gave me a lot of good things to think about, but the bad writing was distracting and made me want to get it over with, fast.
I also don’t like it when we try to place mans attributes upon God. But I understand some people need that in order to “understand” God, as though God could be understood.
I will stick with the mysterious Creator that is in control and far too grand for me to grasp or try to understand. The descriptions in the Bible are good enough for me.
