Road Trip America | Day 9
Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 (my birthday!).

Alrighty… today we said goodbye to Jen’s Dad & Grandma in Decatur, Alabama & headed down to Birmingham to visit our good friends, the Peacocks.

Mark and I worked together at Life Church for about a year or so. His family is a very special family & they were called out to Church of the Highlands in Birmingham, Alabama a couple years ago. We met them at their church and Mark gave us a little tour of the place, while Jen & Laurie caught up a little.

Then we headed out to “Golden Rule BBQ” for lunch – it was great! We had such a good time reminiscing and catching up with the Peacocks. What’s really cool is to see what God has done in both our lives over the past few years.

After lunch, we headed further south to Mobile, Alabama to see my Uncle Rick & Aunt Carol for dinner. They were so nice to have us over. Carol made Roast Beef & Yorkshire Pudding (an awesome Brittish meal). Dinner was awesome and it was great to catch up with them, and my cousin David (who I’ve never met!). Found out they are all into Metallica! I know, crazy! They had a birthday cake and ice cream for me – it was truly a fun night with family.
After hanging out with my Uncle & Aunt, we got back on the road for a 2 hour drive to New Orleans, Louisianna. We ended up getting into New Orleans right around midnight at another sweet hotel that Jen Pricelined for a super deal – the Marriot right near the French Quarter. When we checked in I requested the highest room because both me an Miles love looking out the window – we ended up on the 40th floor! Then we all crashed.

Cool! Good ole’ Mark Peacock. Glad you got to see Uncle Rick and Aunt Carol too.
