the life of a renaissance pastor

I’ll start this off with a little TV history for our family. When we got married 8 years ago, Jen and I didn’t have TV for the first few years. We were those people who, when everybody was talking about how funny Seinfeld was, and how awesome Friends was - we just kind of stood there looking blankly at each other. Then Jen got pregnant with Miles and got bored at home, so we decided to jump in. We jumped in softy, just basic cable; no worries.
Fast forward a few more years.
Now we had the Dish DVR with two TV’s and over 100 hours of record time. We did it all. Survivor, LOST, 24, The Office, So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Got Talent, American Idol, Desperate Housewives, Greys Anatomy, Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, Saturday Night Live, History Channel, Discovery Channel, Austin City Limits, Nashville Star, Heroes, shall I continue? And of course for the kids there was Sesame Street, Builder Bob, Dora, Power Rangers, Yo Gabba Gabba, Scooby Doo, Pokemon, Loony Tunes, Batman, Ben Ten… sick to your stomach yet?
Fast forward to present day. No cable. Yup, we went cold turkey. And it’s been great! But I’m not gonna lie, we’re still closet TV freaks! Now we just watch what’s available online, which is considerably less - and it’s nice because we don’t just crank on the tube and veg out.
All that to say that we’re excited about the fall/winter & the upcoming shows that we’ve been missing all summer. We’ve gotten better & tried to pare down our list of must see shows.
Here’s my list (in no particular order):

So, I’ve got two questions for y’all:
My name is Alex McLean and I am currently the executive pastor at LifeChurch in the Temecula Valley of Southern California. I have been a youth pastor and worship leader, as well as a media / communications pastor so I am into all kinds of things creative.
At the core, I am just a guy who is trying to live in community, and live life - not let it happen. I try and stay real and teachable, humble if I can say that. That is really one of the reasons I blog, is to share my experiences in life and learn from others.
God has blessed me with more than I deserve and I am so thankful for that. A beautiful wife and two incredible children. More friends and family than you can shake a stick at and just an amazing life that I am allowed to enjoy and or struggle with every day.
